Hangelstein

Hangelstein is a mountain summit near Giessen that rises to 305 meters above sea level and forms part of the Lumda Plateau. The peak has basalt rock formations and is crisscrossed by hiking trails that wind through the forested landscape.

The mountain was designated as a protected area in the 1990s to preserve its basalt formations and geological characteristics. This status reflects efforts to protect the natural geological heritage of the region.
