Hayns Park, Public park in Eppendorf, Hamburg, Germany.
Hayns Park is a public park along the Alster River in Eppendorf that spans about 5 hectares with mature trees, open meadows, and walking paths. It features a children's splash pool, playgrounds, picnic and barbecue areas, and is anchored by a distinctive Greek-style pavilion.
The land was once private property belonging to Hamburg Senator Max Theodor Hayn before being converted to public parkland in 1931. This transformation was part of the larger Alster canalization project that reshaped the river landscape.
The Monopteros pavilion hosts concerts and cultural events throughout the year, serving as a gathering point for the community. This Greek-style structure has become a focal point where visitors connect and experience performances in an outdoor setting.
The park is easy to navigate with pathways suitable for casual walks and visitors of varying mobility levels. Best visited on warm days when the children's splash pool is in operation and the picnic areas are most enjoyable.
The nearby Eppendorfer Mühlenteich pond serves as winter quarters for about 200 Alster swans, cared for by a dedicated caretaker known as the Schwanenvater. This connection between the park and swan conservation gives the area special significance for nature watchers.
