Badstraße 64, Neo-baroque residential building in Heilbronn, Germany
Badstraße 64 is a neo-baroque residential building with bay windows, balconies featuring semi-circular windows decorated with keystones, and a copper-roofed corner turret. The ornate facade displayed architectural details typical of 1920s construction.
The building was constructed in 1925 according to designs by architect Hermann Steus for entrepreneur Berta Angele. It survived World War II with only minor roof damage while neighboring structures were destroyed.
The Angele family operated a steam laundry in the building, employing between 30 and 50 workers including laundresses, firemen, and drivers until the late 20th century.
Access depends on current availability for public viewing, so check beforehand about visiting options. The location sits in central Heilbronn with good public transport connections nearby.
The structure featured a historic staircase, wood paneling, and decorative stucco work, yet alterations made over time resulted in officials denying heritage protection status. This reflects how visually striking buildings sometimes failed to receive formal recognition.
