Badstraße 64, Neo-baroque residential building in Heilbronn, Germany
The building at Badstraße 64 features bay windows, balconies with semi-circular windows decorated with keystones, and a copper-covered turret on its corner.
Built in 1925 by architect Hermann Steus for entrepreneur Berta Angele, the structure survived World War II with only minor roof damage while surrounding buildings were destroyed.
The Angele family operated a steam laundry in the building, employing between 30 and 50 workers including laundresses, firemen, and drivers until the late 20th century.
The property was acquired by Lidl & Schwarz in 2009 and demolished in February 2010 to expand the adjacent Kaufland facility with a delivery area.
The building contained a historic staircase, wood paneling, and stucco features, yet modifications since 1925 led authorities to deny heritage protection status.
