The water castle Haus Blegge features a baroque mansion surrounded by water elements and maintains its original architectural structure from 1752.
The earliest mentions of Haus Blegge, initially named Haus Blech, date back to 1183 when it served as a residence for knights in the region.
Since 2016, this historical structure has transformed into a retirement home managed by Caritas, serving the local community's elderly population.
Located in the Paffrath district, the castle underwent regular maintenance to preserve its historical elements while adapting to modern residential requirements.
The building was designed by architect Johann Georg Leydel and commissioned by Johann Jakob Bützler, who established its current baroque configuration.
