Kapelle St. Reinoldi, Medieval chapel in Rupelrath, Solingen, Germany

Kapelle St. Reinoldi is a stone church building with a simple layout consisting of a main nave, choir, and apse. The distinctive bell tower on the portal side is covered with slate tiles and defines the structure's appearance.

The building dates from the 14th century and was substantially rebuilt in the early 18th century. During this reconstruction, workers kept parts of the original walls but redesigned the portal side.

The wall paintings inside show religious scenes that were uncovered during restoration work and reflect medieval faith. These images tell of the spiritual meaning this place has held for the community over centuries.

Access to the chapel is normally possible, but opening times can be limited, so it is wise to check in advance. The immediate surroundings with the cemetery invite a quiet visit where you can also view the older gravestones.

The adjacent cemetery holds a gravestone from 1702 that is older than the current chapel form and speaks to the place's long history. This early monument shows that people have long sought this place to honor their deceased.
