The Historisches Museum Aurich occupies the former ducal chancellery building in the old town center, presenting exhibitions across six thematic sections about regional development.
The museum opened in 1985 after local citizens established a support association in 1982, leading to the renovation of the Old Chancellery building.
The exhibitions showcase East Frisian heritage through archaeological findings, including Europe's oldest plow and the megalithic tomb known as Butter, Bread and Cheese.
The museum operates Tuesday through Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM, with adult tickets priced at 5 euros and children's admission at 2.50 euros.
Visitors can experience the East Frisian tea ceremony and access audio guides in multiple languages, including Low German dialect.
