Historisches Rathaus, Historic town hall in Lingen, Germany
The Historisches Rathaus stands at the northwest corner of the market square, adjacent to Große Straße, with a floor area of 104 square meters.
Built in 1555 on older foundations from the 15th century, the structure replaced a previous building that was destroyed in the city fire of 1548.
The Baroque-styled stepped gable reflects Dutch Renaissance influences, distinguishing it from other buildings in the old town of Lingen.
Since 2001, the renovated building serves as a venue for official receptions and civil marriage ceremonies, maintaining its administrative functions.
The bell tower contains a carillon and figurine display, installed in 1952, which performs every three years during the Pentecost Kivelingsfest festival.
