Bucher Stausee, reservoir in Germany
Bucher Stausee is a large reservoir covering about 27 hectares, located in the Buch district of Rainau in Baden-Württemberg. A flat walking path circles the entire lake with benches for resting, a 150-meter sandy beach, and grassy areas for picnics and barbecues, along with changing facilities and children's play equipment.
The reservoir was constructed many years ago to store water for the community. Over time it evolved into an established recreation site where locals and visitors have enjoyed outdoor activities for decades.
The name derives from the Buch district of Rainau, where the reservoir sits in the local landscape. Families gather along the shoreline during warmer months, with children playing in shallow areas while adults relax on the sandy beach or nearby grass.
The reservoir is easy to reach with parking available nearby for visitors. The flat paths are accessible to everyone including wheelchair users, and the area is well maintained and safe for all ages.
A nearby bird protection area called Vorbecken Buch covers five hectares and is home to many rare bird species that attract birdwatchers year-round. The combination of water and protected habitat makes this a special spot for observing wild birds in their natural setting.
