Hochwasserspeicher Liebenstein

The Hochwasserspeicher Liebenstein is a flood control dam near Plößberg that holds back water to protect the valley from flooding. The facility also uses the stored water to generate electricity through a hydroelectric plant.

The dam was built between 1965 and 1968 to provide flood protection for the Tirschenreuth district. This structure emerged from the region's need to protect itself from flooding dangers.
