Hermannsdorfer Wiesen

Hermannsdorfer Wiesen is a protected nature reserve near Elterlein covering approximately 185 hectares. The landscape features wetlands, marshes, and damp meadows that create different habitats for wildlife and plants.

The area received official protection status in 2007 under German conservation law. This designation aimed to safeguard the fragile wetland environments and the species dependent on them.

The reserve stands as part of Germany's extensive network of over 23,000 protected areas, which collectively preserve the nation's natural heritage.

The reserve is accessible through several marked walking paths suitable for different activity levels. Wear sturdy footwear, as the ground becomes muddy and slippery in the wetter sections.
