Stadtpark Bochum, Municipal park in Bochum, Germany.
Stadtpark Bochum is a 31-hectare park featuring lakes with fountains, rose gardens, dahlia sections, and rhododendron areas interspersed with mature deciduous trees. The terrain varies between different garden zones and offers space for walking and spending time outdoors.
Established in 1869, this was the first publicly funded municipal garden in the Ruhr region, starting with around 13 hectares in an east-west valley. The site has expanded since then and became a major recreation destination for the area.
Modern sculptures by artists including Vesely and Richard Serra are placed throughout the gardens, shaping how visitors move through the space.
The park includes a water playground and a restaurant located in the traditional Parkhaus building, staying open year-round for visitors. Well-maintained paths connect different sections, allowing flexible routes based on your interests and available time.
More than 200 different tree and shrub species grow here, including rare international deciduous varieties that display distinct colors with each season. This botanical diversity means each visit offers something different depending on when you come.
