Schönenbergkirche Ellwangen

The Schönenbergkirche Ellwangen is a baroque church perched on a hilltop near Ellwangen, featuring twin towers on its front facade and decorative pilasters along the walls. The interior contains elaborate frescoes and stucco figures that demonstrate considerable artistic craftsmanship.

The building was destroyed by lightning in 1709 and subsequently reconstructed before receiving consecration from an auxiliary bishop in 1729. This rebuilding after destruction shaped the church as it stands today.
