Stadtmuseum Baden-Baden

Stadtmuseum Baden-Baden displays collections about the city's history across multiple rooms within a 19th-century building on the Lichtentaler Allee. The museum presents objects from various periods, ranging from Roman artifacts to works from the 20th century.

The museum traces its roots to historical collections gathered starting in 1892 and opened in its current form in 2004. This long collecting history makes it possible to follow the city's development over more than 2000 years.

The name Baden-Baden comes from the Roman thermal baths that have defined the city since ancient times. In the exhibitions, you can see how this tradition shaped the city over centuries and turned it into a favorite destination for European aristocrats.

The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday and offers audio guides in several languages at no extra cost. Plan to spend enough time to view the different collections at a relaxed pace.

The museum houses a glass pavilion with sculptures from different eras, including late Gothic portal figures from the Collegiate Church. This collection displays artworks that are otherwise difficult to access.
