St. Peters Church

St. Peters Church features fieldstone construction with round arches, representing traditional Romanesque architecture from northern German ecclesiastical buildings of the 12th century.

Bishop Vicelinus established this church in 1151 during the Christianization of Slavic East Holstein, making it his temporary seat before his death in 1154.

The church maintains a tradition of summer concerts spanning over 40 years, featuring organ performances and collaborations with musicians from different genres.

Located near Great Plön Lake, 13 kilometers west of Eutin and 30 kilometers southeast of Kiel, the church welcomes visitors throughout the year.

Since 2009, the International Summer Academy offers master classes in instruments like organ and baroque violin within the church walls.
