Westerberg, Mountain summit in Coesfeld, Germany.
Westerberg rises to 189 meters between the villages of Billerbeck, Havixbeck, and Nottuln in North Rhine-Westphalia. A historic tower crowns the summit, with a restaurant situated within its base, and hiking paths wind through the area.
Longinus Tower was built between 1897 and 1901 by the Baumberge Society from local limestone, standing 30 meters tall. Its construction marked the region's appreciation for this natural vantage point and the local mining heritage.
The name reflects the western location of this summit within the Münsterland region. Visitors experience it as a local gathering spot where people come to hike and take in views over the countryside.
A climb of 128 steps leads to the tower's observation platform, with views extending to the Teutoburg Forest and into the Netherlands. The path is easy to walk and the on-site restaurant provides a comfortable rest after hiking.
The restaurant inside the restored tower uses its position creatively as the highest dining establishment in the Münsterland region. Guests dine while enjoying the surrounding views and feeling the history of the structure all at once.
