Ismaning Palace, Baroque palace and town hall in Ismaning, Bavaria.
Ismaning Palace is a castle with Baroque and Neoclassical elements located at Schloßstraße 2. The main building is complemented by a garden pavilion and gatehouse and serves as the town hall today.
The building began in 1530 in Renaissance style. Between 1716 and 1724 it received its present Baroque form under architect Johann Franz Eckher, and was later reworked by Leo von Klenze in 1836.
The rooms tell the story of the Beauharnais-Leuchtenberg family, who lived here and shaped the palace during the 19th century. Visitors can see objects and documents that reflect the life of this ducal household.
The palace functions as the town hall and administrative center, so some areas may not be open to visitors. It is best to check ahead about which sections are accessible and when visits are possible.
Two accomplished artists were involved in shaping the palace: Johann Baptist Zimmermann and Dominik Gläsl contributed to the original Baroque designs. Their artistic skills greatly influenced the character and decoration of this building.
