Kallmann-Museum, Art museum in Schlosspark, Ismaning, Germany
The Kallmann-Museum occupies a reconstructed Orangerie building within the Schlosspark and presents modern and contemporary artworks in its galleries. The building sits within garden grounds that frame the entire museum setting.
The original Orangerie was built in 1837 and demolished in 1983 after serving its original purpose. It was rebuilt between 1991 and 1992 and converted into an art museum.
The museum displays portraits and paintings by Hans Jürgen Kallmann alongside rotating exhibitions of modern works. Visitors experience contemporary art within a garden setting that connects indoor and outdoor spaces.
The building is easily accessible and the Schlosspark provides ample space for walking and exploring around it. Being situated within the park means visitors can freely move between indoor galleries and outdoor areas.
Matt Mullican created a topiary installation in 2005 featuring sculpted beech hedges and trees that serve as navigational markers throughout the grounds. The work functions as both art and wayfinding device within the garden.
