The Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken presents rotating exhibitions of contemporary art, conceptual art, new media installations, performances, and video art in a former Baroque hotel.
Founded in 1985 under Bernd Schulz's direction, the gallery transferred to Saarland Cultural Heritage Foundation in 1994 before returning to city administration in 2012.
The gallery organizes concerts in its courtyard during summer events and maintains collaborative programs with the Saar College of Fine Arts through the Statements series.
The gallery opens Tuesday and Thursday through Friday from 12:00 to 18:00, Wednesday from 14:00 to 20:00, and weekends from 11:00 to 18:00 with free admission.
The Nahaufnahme video series produces bi-weekly episodes featuring local artists and cultural professionals from Saarbrücken, documenting their creative processes and achievements.
