Justizzentrum Magdeburg, Courthouse in Magdeburg, Germany
The Justizzentrum Magdeburg is a courthouse housed in a four-wing complex located between Breiter Weg and Max-Josef-Metzger-Strasse. The facility contains approximately 30 courtrooms, training spaces, and a central library spread across its 35,000 square meters of office space.
The building was constructed between 1895 and 1899 as the city's main post office. An extensive renovation from 2005 to 2007 transformed it into the justice center it is today.
The building displays a blend of different architectural styles across its facade and structure. Visitors can observe Dutch late Gothic, German Renaissance, and neo-Gothic elements as they move through the space.
The complex is accessible during daytime hours, with some areas open to the public while others require authorization. Visitors should know this is an active courthouse, so security protocols are enforced throughout.
The name honors Eike von Repgow, a legal scholar from the 13th century who authored the Sachsenspiegel. This work was one of Germany's earliest law books and shaped legal development across the region.
