Kloster Oeventrop, Sacred Heart Mission House in Arnsberg, Germany
The red brick monastery building stands at the edge of Oeventrop district with 5 hectares of farmland and 5 hectares of forest.
The Sacred Hearts of Jesus missionaries established the monastery in 1902, operating it as an educational institution for future priests until 1969.
The monastery library contained 45,000 volumes and included a missions museum displaying artifacts from the South Pacific region.
The seminary provided a five-year educational program for high school graduates, focusing on philosophy and theology studies leading to priesthood ordination.
During World War II, the monastery served as a military hospital where 1,300 soldiers with lung diseases received treatment and were buried in the local cemetery.
