Kloster Vinnenberg

Kloster Vinnenberg is a Benedictine monastery in Warendorf located within the Vinnenberger Busch nature reserve surrounded by protected landscapes and woodland areas north of the city. The former monastery buildings now serve as a retreat and education center with single and double rooms for guests seeking spiritual guidance.

The monastery was founded in 1256 by two nuns from the Cistercian monastery of St. Aegidii in Münster and was originally named Mons Mariae. Over the centuries it developed into an important center of spiritual life in the region.

The monastery church displays Gothic tracery windows and houses a modern choir from the 1960s decorated by notable German artists. This artistic design shows how the community has kept its role as a spiritual place over time.
