Museum Bad Schwartau

The Museum Bad Schwartau is a facility that documents the history and development of the town through its collections. The objects and photographs show how the region changed over time.

The institution was established in 1989 in a former spa building near the town center. Later, plans were made to relocate the collection to the former courthouse building.

The collection focuses on natural history and displays fossils and minerals from the region that were gathered by collectors. Visitors gain an understanding of the area's geological past through these objects.

The building is currently undergoing renovation and is not accessible to visitors. It is advisable to check ahead before planning a visit, as reopening at a new location is expected.

A giant sequoia tree standing about 20 meters tall grows in front of the museum building and has been designated a natural monument since 1992. This tree serves as an impressive natural landmark and is regarded by many as a symbol of the town.
