Kreis Bordesholm is a rural district in Schleswig-Holstein covering multiple small towns and villages across the northern German lowlands. The region is predominantly shaped by farmland, meadows, and flat terrain typical of this part of northern Europe.
The district was renamed from Landkreis Kiel to Kreis Bordesholm in 1907 following administrative reorganization in Schleswig-Holstein. A major shift came in 1910 when several of its municipalities were absorbed into the expanding city of Kiel.
