Schloss Taxis, Renaissance castle in Dischingen, Germany

Schloss Taxis stands on a prominent hill between Dischingen and Trugenhofen, featuring a spacious courtyard with two gates and multiple castle buildings.

The castle transformed from a medieval fortress to a noble residence when the Thurn und Taxis family acquired it in 1734 for 150,000 Gulden.

The architectural ensemble combines Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Classicism, and Neo-Gothic elements through contributions from different master builders.

The castle remains a private residence of the Thurn und Taxis family, limiting access to public visitors throughout the year.

Princess Auguste of Württemberg spent time under house arrest at the castle following alleged assassination attempts against her husband, Prince Karl Anselm.
