Entenfang Wesseling, Protected area in Wesseling, Germany.
Entenfang Wesseling is a protected nature reserve featuring a shallow lake surrounded by dense reed beds and mudflats. Paths wind through the area and provide clear views across the wetland and surrounding vegetation.
The site developed from an old Rhine river channel and became a protected reserve in 1969. Its name refers to a duck hunting ground that existed here in the 17th century.
The protected area provides a home where water birds and waders breed and rest throughout the year. Visitors can watch these species going about their daily routines.
The reserve lies west of Wesseling and is accessible from Rodenkirchener Street. The paths remain open throughout the year and offer good conditions for observation in any season.
More than half of all bird species known in Germany have been recorded here. This makes it an exceptional location for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.
