Schloss Eichholz

Schloss Eichholz is a stately villa with classical features in Wesseling. The white building extends across multiple wings with symmetrically arranged windows and a distinctive central entrance portal.

The estate was first mentioned as 'Eycholtz' in 1320 and was rebuilt after a fire in 1822. In the 1880s it developed into a substantial noble residence.

The location served as a center for education and political discussion when a renowned academy operated there for decades. Many people came here to engage with contemporary issues and ideas.

The building is used today as a medical facility and operates as a specialized clinic for patients in the region. Visiting opportunities are limited and should be arranged in advance.

Archaeological digs near the grounds uncovered the remains of a Roman villa, showing the area was inhabited in ancient times. Pottery and household items from that era were also discovered.
