Märchenpark Salzwedel

Märchenpark Salzwedel is a family amusement park with more than 30 fairy tale huts that depict stories from German folk tales and local legends of the Altmark region. The park features various play and activity areas with slides, climbing walls, trampolines, and water features designed for children of different ages.

The park began in 1998 as a scent garden and was transformed into a fairy tale park in 2003 through cooperation between various Salzwedel organizations. This development reflected the town's interest in making cultural and local traditions accessible to visitors.

The park features figures from German children's television history, including Pittiplatsch and the Sandman, which visitors encounter throughout the garden areas. These characters are part of shared cultural memories for many people and shape the experience while walking through the fairy tale huts.

The park is designed for visitors of different ages and offers both smaller and larger play areas spread across open garden spaces. The site can be explored on foot, but good walking shoes are recommended since you move between various themed and activity areas over some distance.

The Labyrinth of Life is a special area where visitors walk a symbolic path from birth to paradise through connected garden sections with different themes. This reflective art installation is often overlooked by visitors, though it offers a quiet experience set apart from the more active play areas.
