Neues Palais, Palace in Detmold, Germany
The Neues Palais features a central building with two identical wings, incorporating architectural elements from both baroque and classical periods at its facade.
Count Friedrich August commissioned the palace in 1708 as a gift for his wife, Countess Amalie zu Solms-Hohensolms, with construction completed by 1718.
The building transformed from a royal residence to become the main facility of the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, a prominent music education institution.
Located south of Detmold city center near the Palaisgarten entrance, the palace underwent extensive renovations between 2004 and 2006 to modernize its facilities.
During World War I, the palace served as a reserve hospital before transitioning to its current role as a music academy in the post-war period.
