Nordpark Düsseldorf

Nordpark Düsseldorf is a large public garden with geometric flowerbeds, extended water features, and a separate Japanese garden section. The design combines European garden traditions with an authentic Eastern garden area that was created by landscape architects from Tokyo.

The park began as an exhibition grounds in the 1930s and later received its current design with flower beds and water basins. The Japanese garden section was added several decades afterward, making the place a layered creation from different periods.

The Japanese Garden feels like a peaceful space with curved paths, small bridges, and carefully placed stones that reflect traditional design principles from East Asia. Visitors can experience how nature and space are thought about differently in this corner of the park.

The park is open year-round and free to enter, with spacious paths that are easy to explore on foot. Parking is available near the entrance, and there are several resting areas where visitors can take a break in any weather.

Within the park grounds sits an aquarium museum displaying hundreds of aquatic animals in naturalistic settings. The museum is integrated into the park landscape itself, creating an unexpected complement to the garden areas.
