Dreimädelbrunnen, Historic fountain in Golzheim district, Düsseldorf, Germany.
The Dreimädelbrunnen is a fountain featuring three bronze female figures arranged on a neoclassical stone base. One figure stands or sits upright while two others kneel, together holding a shell element.
The fountain was created between 1914 and 1915 by artists Leon Lauffs and Hermann vom Endt and donated to the city. Following damage in 1925 and later deactivation, it was relocated to its current location in 1964.
The three female figures represent classical beauty and femininity as depicted in ancient art traditions. The fountain reflects themes that were popular in early 1900s artistic circles.
The fountain sits at the intersection of Kaiserswerther Straße and Friedrich-Lau-Straße, easily found in front of a clinic building. The flat terrain around the fountain allows comfortable access and clear views of all the sculptural details.
The bronze figures spent years stored in municipal warehouses before eventually finding their current home. This period of storage represents an overlooked chapter in the artwork's journey.
