Ramones Museum, Punk rock museum in Friedrichshain, Germany.
The Ramones Museum is a private museum in Friedrichshain, Berlin, dedicated entirely to the American punk rock band The Ramones. It holds a large collection of original objects, including instruments, stage clothing, concert posters, and photographs from across the band's career.
The museum was founded in 2005 by German collector Flo Hayler, who had been gathering objects related to the band for many years. The collection grew steadily, and the museum moved several times before arriving at its current location in Friedrichshain in 2024.
The band gave all its members the same last name, Ramone, as a way of presenting themselves as a kind of family. Walking through the exhibition, you can see how that sense of belonging still draws fans from many different countries to this Berlin address.
The museum sits in Friedrichshain and is easy to reach by public transport from most parts of Berlin. The space is compact, so a visit of around one to two hours is usually enough to see everything without feeling rushed.
Among the objects on display is one of Joey Ramone's actual leather jackets, worn on stage, which surprises many visitors because it can be seen from very close up. The jacket is not behind glass, making it one of the few pieces in any rock museum where you can get that near to a worn garment.
