Reichsbahndirektion Halle, Railway division headquarters in Halle, Germany.
Reichsbahndirektion Halle is the railway administration building for German rail operations in Halle (Saale), constructed between 1901 and 1902. The structure comprises four wings arranged around five interior courtyards and sits near the main railway station.
The building was designed by architects Paul Thoemer and Eduard Fürstenau and became the headquarters of the Reichsbahndirektion in 1920. It managed railway operations across southern Prussian regions, Saxony, and parts of Silesia until the establishment of Deutsche Bahn AG in 1994.
The building displays early industrial architecture with red brick and clean lines typical of German railway administrations. The four wings and interior courtyards reflect the practical needs of a large administrative organization.
The building sits near the main railway station and is easily reached on foot. The location close to this major transportation hub makes it a convenient point to explore when visiting the central part of the city.
An enclosed bridge once crossed Buddestraße to connect the main building with a later extension that housed the Reichsbahnamt Halle offices. This structure allowed staff to move between the buildings without stepping outside into the street.
