Schloss Alteglofsheim

Schloss Alteglofsheim is a structure with four wings surrounding a central courtyard, featuring baroque ceiling paintings in its halls. The rooms display ornamental details characteristic of baroque architecture.

The fortification was founded in 1240 by the Eglofsheimer family as castrum Egelofsheim and served initially as a military stronghold. Over centuries, the building underwent multiple renovations and acquired its present baroque form.

The castle serves as a music academy today, housing teaching studios and concert halls where performances take place regularly. Visitors can observe how the space functions as a center for musical activities.

The castle welcomes visitors only through pre-arranged group tours coordinated by the administration office. It is advisable to contact the office in advance at Am Schloßhof 1 to schedule a visit.

The northern wing contains a dining hall from the late 18th century with remarkable architectural elements of that period. This room displays craftsmanship details that visitors will not find in the older sections.
