Schloss Bedburg, Renaissance castle in Bedburg, Germany
Schloss Bedburg is a multi-winged structure built with tuff stone that displays Renaissance gables and carved decorations throughout. The castle is surrounded by fortified walls and showcases characteristic Renaissance architectural features on its facades.
The castle was founded in the 12th century and had to be rebuilt after its destruction in 1278. Another major reconstruction followed after the Truchsessian War in the 16th century.
The castle once served as a training academy for knights and shaped education in the region for generations. Visitors today can explore rooms that were once used by aspiring nobles.
The castle offers spaces for events such as conferences, meetings, and weddings in modernized rooms. There are around 400 parking spaces near the castle grounds for visitors.
The southeast wing was particularly enlarged during reconstruction efforts and given a new form. The Baroque period then completely transformed the southwest side to serve as the new main facade.
