Callenberg Castle, Gothic revival castle in Beiersdorf district, Coburg, Germany
Callenberg Castle is a Gothic revival structure situated on a wooded hill around six kilometers from Coburg center. The building contains a family chapel and displays a collection of art, furniture, and porcelain throughout its interior spaces.
The castle was first recorded in documents in 1122 and passed through different ownership before becoming a residence of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. These changes in ownership shaped how the building was used and altered over time.
The castle displays artwork and furnishings that show how aristocratic families lived and what they valued over time. Walking through the rooms, you can see the decorative objects and paintings that decorated their daily spaces.
The castle is open to visitors from April through October with guided tours available in German and English. Main areas are accessible for those with mobility needs.
Inside the castle is a German firearms museum displaying an extensive collection of weapons and hunting gear. The exhibition covers four centuries of German gun-making and sporting traditions.
