Sackpfeife, Mountain summit in Rothaar Mountains, Germany
Sackpfeife is a mountain summit in the Rothaar Mountains with an elevation of 673 meters, located between Waldeck-Frankenberg and Marburg-Biedenkopf counties in Hesse. The peak holds an old observation tower and a transmission station that are visible to hikers.
The Kaiser Wilhelm Tower was built on the summit, marking an era of observation tower construction across German mountain regions. The tower reflects the technological and military development of the Imperial era in the landscape.
The mountain forms part of the Marburger Weg, a popular hiking route that connects multiple peaks and reflects the region's walking traditions. Visitors use the path to explore the landscape on foot and experience the natural surroundings.
A side road runs from Hatzfeld-Eifa to the summit and connects with Federal Road 253, with parking available at the base of the mountain. Walking via marked hiking trails is the easiest way to reach the top.
Just 35 meters east of the summit sits an OHGV mountain shelter that offers refuge and rest to hikers. This shelter is a hidden gathering spot for local walkers and provides a quiet retreat beside the busier main peak.
