Schloss Gaienhofen – Evangelische Internatsschule am Bodensee, Educational château in Gaienhofen, Germany
Schloss Gaienhofen is a castle on the Höri peninsula at Lake Constance featuring eight towers and baroque design elements from its 18th-century renovation. The building sits directly on the shore and now serves as the main campus for a Protestant boarding school.
The castle was built in 1110 as a hunting estate for Bishop Gebhard III of Zähringen and received its first documented mention in 1295. After changing hands through the centuries, it became home to a Protestant boarding school in 1946.
The Protestant boarding school established in 1946 provides education that combines traditional academic subjects with Christian values and multicultural perspectives.
The castle is not open to visitors as it operates as a private school campus. However, the surrounding shoreline areas of the peninsula offer opportunities to view the building from outside and explore the landscape.
During the Council of Constance from 1414 to 1418, the castle hosted a feast where Conrad von Reischach's son Michael met a tragic end.
