Schloss Höhnscheid

Schloss Höhnscheid is a castle in Bad Arolsen now operating as a conference and cultural venue. The building features corner towers with mansard roofing and sits surrounded by forests and hills in central Hesse.

The site began in 1208 as an Augustinian canonry founded by two regional nobles. In 1468 it became a Benedictine monastery and maintained this religious function until modern times.

The castle reflects its religious past through its architecture and layout, which remain visible today. The buildings show how a single location transformed across centuries to serve different purposes.

The location is best accessed by car and sits in rural surroundings outside the village of Bühle. Visitors should check opening times in advance, as the grounds are often reserved for private groups during events.

Since its conversion to a conference center, the entire building was fully restored with all 30 rooms individually furnished with antiques and modern comfort. This blend of historical character with contemporary amenities makes it an unusual event venue.
