St. Moritz

The St. Moritz church features Portuguese limestone floors, dark-stained wood pews, and white interior walls that create strong visual contrasts throughout the space.

Founded by Bruno of Augsburg nearly 1000 years ago, the church underwent multiple reconstructions due to fires and suffered extensive damage during World War II.

The church combines medieval architectural heritage with modern design elements, following a 3.5 million euro renovation completed by architect John Pawson in 2013.

The altar's central position in the nave allows all congregants to participate in religious services from the same level, following current Catholic liturgical requirements.

Thin slices of onyx cover the apse windows, filtering natural sunlight to create diffused illumination patterns throughout the interior spaces.
