SuperC

SuperC is a university building in Aachen with a distinctive cantilevered roof and expansive glass facades that connect interior spaces to the surrounding campus. The structure spans seven floors and houses key service offices including the registrar's office, international affairs department, examination office, and career center.

The building was designed by architects Susanne Fritzer and Eva-Maria Pape and opened in 2008 after construction began in 2006. This project marked a turning point in the university's infrastructure and modernized the availability of student services across campus.

The building serves as a meeting place where students, researchers, and industry professionals gather and exchange ideas about their work. Daily interactions here create connections and partnerships between different academic fields.

The building is centrally located on campus and easy to find due to its glass facade visible from many pathways. Visitors should use the central stairways and elevators to navigate between the different service offices housed here.

The original design included geothermal heating through deep ground probes, but technical difficulties forced the project to abandon this approach. This unrealized innovation reveals how construction projects must adapt during implementation to overcome practical challenges.
