Stinkesberg, Summit in Ratingen, Germany.
Stinkesberg is a hill with steep slopes on three sides, standing at about 95 meters high within the Oberbusch forest area. Multiple hiking trails crisscross the area, offering routes of different difficulty levels through protected woodland.
In the 17th century, the hill was known by a different name before it received its current one. The change in name reflects the quartzite blocks that formed through geological processes and became a defining feature of the site.
The name refers to the stone formations at its summit, which have long been part of the local landscape identity. Visitors and nature enthusiasts come to see these rocky outcrops and explore the surrounding woodland.
The site is easily accessed through a dense network of hiking trails suited to different fitness levels. It is helpful to wear comfortable shoes, as the paths lead through steep terrain and woodland ground.
Two aircraft accidents occurred near the hill: a passenger plane in 1955 and a sports aircraft in 1992. These rare events remain part of the local history and are still remembered by those who live in the area.
