Mueller Cloth Mill, Industry and history museum in Euskirchen, Germany.
Mueller Cloth Mill is an industry and history museum in Euskirchen where the full cloth production process is on display, from raw fiber to finished fabric. The building retains its original workspaces and textile machinery from around 1900, spread across several floors.
The site started in 1801 as a paper mill and later shifted to wool processing before Ludwig Mueller converted it to cloth production in 1894. Each change reflected a broader shift in the region's economy during the 1800s.
The mill takes its name from Ludwig Mueller, the entrepreneur who shaped it in the late 1800s. Visitors can walk through the original workrooms and get a direct sense of what daily life looked like for the people who worked there.
The museum is open from Tuesday through Sunday, and a guided tour is the best way to see the machinery in operation. Wear sturdy shoes, as the visit involves stairs and the working machines can make the floors vibrate.
The carding machines, spinning mules, and weaving looms in the museum are still in working order and are demonstrated live during visits. Standing next to them when they run makes it immediately clear just how loud and physically demanding factory work really was.
