Theater an der Parkaue
Theater an der Parkaue, State theater for young audiences in Lichtenberg, Germany
Theater an der Parkaue occupies half of a four-story plastered building designed in Renaissance style. The building contains three performance stages, each adapted for different age groups and production sizes.
In 1948, the Soviet Military Administration ordered the former boys' school to be converted into a cultural center. The theater was established in the building's right wing and grew over time into one of Germany's largest stages for young audiences.
Children from age four, school groups, and families come here to watch plays made specifically for young audiences. The different stages are designed for various age groups and give visitors their first experiences with theater.
The building is currently undergoing renovation in stages while continuing regular performances. Before visiting, check which areas are accessible and how construction work might affect your visit on that day.
The theater employs around 90 staff members and ranks among Germany's largest stages dedicated to young audiences. This size allows it to run multiple productions simultaneously and welcome different school groups at the same time.
