Muldenberger Talsperre

Muldenberger Talsperre is a reservoir and dam in Vogtlandkreis that serves as a significant water storage facility for the surrounding area. The structure creates a large body of water visible from various vantage points in the landscape.

The dam was built between 1920 and 1925 as a major infrastructure project. During World War II, the structure suffered damage from explosions, which left marks on its physical form.

The Vogtland Flößerverein Muldenberg association organizes an annual timber rafting demonstration on Ascension Day, preserving regional water management traditions.

The area is accessible at many points and welcomes visitors to walk and explore the surroundings. It is advisable to wear appropriate footwear, as paths vary in their conditions.

Additional preliminary reservoirs were constructed at the water inlets during renovation work to improve water quality. This technical solution shows how the structure was adapted and improved over time.
