Trabrennbahn Karlshorst, Horse racing venue and cultural heritage monument in Karlshorst, Berlin, Germany.
Trabrennbahn Karlshorst is a harness racing venue and cultural heritage site in Berlin where drivers compete with horses and two-wheeled carts on a large track. The facility features traditional grandstands surrounding the course and operates as an active venue for racing events and other sporting competitions.
The site was established in 1894 and originally hosted obstacle races before shifting to harness racing after 1945. This change was shaped by Soviet occupation forces and permanently altered what types of competitions took place here.
This venue draws people who share a passion for harness racing and equestrian sports. Visitors experience a gathering rooted in horse racing traditions that remain central to how the place operates today.
The venue is open for races on Fridays and Sundays, and visitors can place bets starting with very small amounts. An antique market also operates on the first weekend of each month, offering a reason to visit even if horse racing is not your main interest.
The site hosted the World Championships for Icelandic Horses in 2013, a specialized competition rarely seen in the city. This event attracted several thousand spectators each day who would not normally visit the venue.
