Waffelfabrik Haubold & Richter, Waffle manufacturing plant in Radebeul, Germany
The Waffelfabrik Haubold & Richter is an industrial facility that produces waffles, gingerbread, and zwieback in a multi-story red brick building located at the corner of Kiefernstrasse and Wichernstrasse in Radebeul. Inside, mechanized equipment handled all stages of production from mixing dough to baking and packaging the finished goods.
The factory was founded in 1907 by Auguste Klara Richter and became a significant employer in Radebeul within two decades. After the Second World War, it fell under state control and was eventually acquired by the Bahlsen company in 1990.
The factory distributed products under three distinct brands: Kornblume, Victoria, and Nordland, representing different price ranges and market segments in German confectionery.
The building exterior can be viewed from the street, with information plaques explaining the site's industrial heritage. QR codes positioned around the structure provide audio or digital content about the production methods and regional craftsmanship.
During East German times, the factory employed up to 300 workers and ranked among the region's larger industrial operations. This growth demonstrates how traditional craft production was scaled up under centralized planning.
