Wildpark Leipzig

Wildpark Leipzig is a large nature preserve in Connewitz that displays native animals in spacious, naturalistic settings. Visitors can observe deer, wild boar, and elk roaming across expansive areas designed to mimic their natural habitats.

The site began in the early 1900s when a mill owner gave the city a deer enclosure. Over the following decades it grew into a full park housing a variety of animal species.

The park maintains a dedicated breeding program for the European mink, contributing to the conservation of this endangered species through habitat protection and population management.

The park has extensive walking paths and nature trails that make it easy to explore. There are playgrounds for children and a petting farm with domestic animals, offering something for all ages.

Inside the park stands a traditional Russian log cabin that now serves as a tea house and café. This unexpected feature gives visitors an unusual place to rest between animal areas.
