Wasserschloss Tatenhausen

Wasserschloss Tatenhausen is a water castle in Halle featuring a Renaissance main building with an eastern wing, enclosed by a moat supplied by the Laibach stream. The complex includes a manor house, gatehouse, carriage houses, and several outbuildings arranged around the fortified grounds.

The castle was founded in the 14th century, but received its current form during the Weser Renaissance period in 1540. This era established the architectural structure that survives to the present day.

The location takes its name from the Tatenhausen family, who lived here for centuries and shaped the castle's character. Visitors can still see traces of this noble family throughout the architecture and preserved rooms today.

Tours of the castle are available by prior arrangement, offering a detailed look at the interior rooms. Plan your visit ahead of time, as the site is located along the Laibach stream and is best reached by personal transport.

Healing springs were discovered at this location in the 18th century, leading to the construction of a bathhouse. This spa facility attracted visitors from the region and turned the castle into a destination for spa guests until the late 1800s.
