The Wasserschloss Tatenhausen features a Renaissance-style main building with an east wing, surrounded by a moat fed by the Laibach stream.
The foundation of this water castle dates back to the 14th century, while the current main structure was built in 1540 during the Weser Renaissance period.
The castle served as residence for poet Friedrich Leopold zu Stolberg-Stolberg between 1812 and 1816, marking a period of literary influence in the region.
The castle grounds include multiple structures such as the manor house, gatehouse, carriage houses, and outbuildings, with guided tours available upon reservation.
In the 18th century, healing springs were discovered at Tatenhausen, leading to the construction of a bathhouse that operated until the late 19th century.
