Construction of Yburg Castle began in 1190 under Herman V, Margrave of Baden-Baden, to secure the southwest border of his territory.
The castle grounds contain decorative sculptures, including a dragon, a griffon, and a frog prince, representing regional folklore and artistic elements.
Visitors can climb the 20-meter tower for views of the Black Forest and Rhine Valley, then enjoy regional food at the on-site restaurant.
The castle witnessed alchemical experiments in the 16th century when Edward Fortunatus reportedly practiced black magic within its walls.
