The three-story circular brick tower features a prominent steel water tank with a capacity of 1000 cubic meters at its highest point.
Built in 1898 to support the expanding steel industry population, the water tower operated continuously until 1984, supplying water to multiple districts.
The structure represents industrial engineering from the late 19th century and forms part of the Industrial Heritage Trail of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The ground floor currently houses a software company and a Hermes Parcel Shop, while the upper floors maintain their original structural elements.
The tower stands at the highest geographical point in Steele, allowing it to distribute water to neighboring communities including Frillendorf and Schonnebeck.
